ROTARY CLUB OF PANVEL INDUSTRIAL TOWN Club No: 26256 R I Dist. 3131 WATER TANK PROJECT AT VILLAGE PADAGHE : A water tank, underground and overhead, was constructed as a project of Rotary Club of Panvel Industrial Town. This was for Public Water Distribution System for village Padaghe, near Taloja MIDC, Panvel Taluka. Funds for this project were given by M/s Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., a Government of India Undertaking, under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding. Total funds given were Rs. 67.15 lakhs, (Approximately $ 100,000). The tanks was constructed in the year 2015-2016. The tanks have a total capacity of 3.0 lakhs litres, (Approximately 87,000 US Gallons). As this was a public project, every possible care was taken to ensure that the project will not only be done perfectly and economically, but will also have a long life of exceeding 30 years. Club members were involved in design, execution and completion of the project. Soil testing was done to ensure correct load bearing capacity of soil. Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) was used thorough the entire construction, to ensure consistent strength. At every stage of the construction, civil and structural engineers inspected the work to ensure perfection in the project. It was a greatly satisfying experience for the Club members and also the company, providing finances. Beneficiaries of the project are villagers of Padaghe, numbering around 10,000. The project was formally handed over to the officials of village Padaghe on 4th March 2016. A public function attended by around 500 people was held at the site of the tank. Mr. Prashant Thakur, M.L.A. (Member of Legislative Assembly, Maharashtra State) was the chief guest for the fuction. It was attended by Mr. Prabal Basu, Chairman and Managing Director of M/s Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., and other senior officers. Villagers, particularly women, were present in large numbers.
